I had the Deer Creek Resin pro kit for xmas. so tried it out on a simple bodied fly, i.e. buzzer. This resin is so easy to use, just apply to body and then Zap with torch, about 2 - 3 seconds, fly is "done" you can handle immediately, and is not "sticky/tacky" and no drying time!! Recommend this for nymphs etc. No I'm not sponsored by them.

This is ribbon that is used to wrap some xmas presents, can be found in some garden centres ( Otter Nurseries ) comes in a multitude of colours, and makes a useful hackle. Trim one edge, as picture centre, then remove lengthwise threads. This is just an example of the "Ribbon Hackle" it can be upright, as in picture, or layered back as below. For those of you that tie your own flies, this is my set-up.
Up-dated earlier this year as the previous tying set-up became overcrowded, i have managed to get myself a little bit more organised, and most of the materials are now in plastic seal-a-bags, inside plastic "Ferraro Rocher" boxes! and all stacked neatly in the drawers. The Camcorder in the top left takes all the fly photos, the wide angle lens ( x .5 ) allows me to focus to within ⅛" of subject if needed, it also has a multitude of functions thus i don't have to rely on "Photoshop" etc. L/H picture is myself with my first 10 lb "Springer" |
