With the opening day ( 15th March ) only about a month away on the R. Axe, lo and behold, down comes the rain, again! yesterday ( 11th Feb ) saw the R.Axe to the top of the banks, ( see Farson digital river cams ) lets hope this is just a seasonal blip, otherwise fishing is going to be severely curtailed.
Bank clearing has had to be called of due to the river being in flood, and the ground being like a quagmire, banks being sodden and dangerous to go near in case of slipping or collapse.
Fishing on the R. Tone starts on April 1st ( yes i know its April fools day ) but thats when it starts for Brown trout, and June 16th for Grayling, and continues until March 14th the following year, virtually year round river fishing for trout and grayling
