Just watched an article on salmon farming, must be the biggest whitewash thats ever been. the manager (apparently) pulled out five salmon in a net to check for sea lice, guess what, thats right, not one fish had any sea lice on it! now, if you'll believe that, then you'll believe anything. There must be someone in authority who can do something to stop this fiasco, this is ruining the wild salmon runs in the rivers, and will eventually lead to the complete loss of wild salmon runs in the west coast rivers, with a substantial loss of income to the local communities, many of which depend on this!! Rant over.

There has been quite a bit about Mop Flies on various forums on the internet, so here is my take on this new fly.
Above are Mini Mops, simple to tie. In fact, the same tying procedure as the "X" fly.s The above are tied on #16's. Below is the source of the material for the bodies. I have decided to finish with coaching as of October, however, i shall still continue to post on here with tips and tweaks as i come across them. Thank you to all of you who have followed me on these pages over the years, due to health reasons i find it a little difficult to summon up the energy to get rigged up to go wading, so it looks like it will be "still water" trout fishing from now on.
Had a day at Amherst fishery on friday, (29th) C&R, used the detached bodied nymph shown in a earlier post (4 of) red one proved the fly of choice (for the fish) ended up with 10, mostly "Blues" It's now called the "X fly" as it first came to prominence at Exe Valley trout fishery. it has also worked at Hawkridge, Dever and Amherst. the body material comes in 8 colours, do give this fly/nymph a try. This beetle's back is made from foam that has a shiny surface.
