Saturday 19th April, returned to Hawkridge Reservoir with the Brother-in-law for a days fishing from a boat this time. After signing in etc, back to vehicle to make up rods, gather gear, and head to boat pontoon, load equipment into boat, cast of and head towards dam end. Today the wind is blowing from the dam up to the input, and already there are three boats up there! in position put drogue over and prepare for our first drift, this takes us in a diagonal across the reservoir, halfway and b-i-law is into a fish, finally, after a lot of faffing about it's netted, a lovely 3 lb 12 oz blue! in the excitement we nearly run aground, bring in drogue, and row back to dam end.
At times the wind was quite strong and also cold, in the next three hours we lose a couple of fish each, and i manage to land three. We now decide to come ashore for a warming coffee and food.
After lunch, and the wind has turned to blow straight down the reservoir, two hours and two fish later, we decide to call it a day.
We finished the day with 6 fish, one to B-i-Law, 5 to me.
As Arnie said " I shall return"
