Friday saw the start of fishing on the R. Axe. Also on the Otterhead lakes. the day started out fairly mild, with a wind, but no rain! Taking a chance, i ventured forth to Otterhead lakes. On arrival, the wind was whipping up the bottom lake, instead of down towards the dam for a change, and the odd fish was rising, to what i have no idea, however, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
It took about an hour before the first fish decided he liked what was being offered, in this case a CdC buzzer, then came another lull, which brought about a move and change of fly, this time a Blood worm under a bung! ( if it's legal and allowed i will use it! ) this proved a wise choice, as fish started to come to the fly, not long after the 5th fish was released so the wind got up and the rain/hail started, as by now it was also getting cold i gave it best, and packed up.
Saturday turned out to be not much better, and today (Sunday) is also rather gloomy and the river was up and coloured. Lets hope it starts to get better.
